GERARDO
OYOLA
Born
in San Juan, Puerto Rico
|
|
Color,
Image, and Rhythm are some of the characteristics
that distinguish the work of Gerardo Oyola, a style
self called "Caribbean Cubism".
His works exemplify the creole flavor and the cultural
essence of the Caribbean in a clean and unique imagery,
combining a palette of vibrant, fresh, and expressionist
colors.
From the age of nine, Oyola worked in every medium,
including watercolor, acrylic, oil, ink, pencil and
even tempera. As a teenager, he presented his artworks
at international shows, which opened the door to his
first one-man show at the age of 19. Today, he is
a more defined artist whose style transpires melody,
energy, and existence in a contemporary approach.
His paintings are in the collection of people in the
entertainment and business world, art collectors as
well as private and charity groups.
In 2000, Gerardo Oyola was chosen for "Catalogo",
a People & Arts production about his artistic
life, which was featured on the Discovery Channel
Latin America.
Oyola has received various art awards and honors and
has exhibited through solo and group exhibits in France,
Spain, Japan, Norway, Latin America and United States.
